SCHOOL BASED SUPPORT SPECIALISTS$1,000 SIGN ON BONUSYEAR-ROUND EMPLOYMENTPlacement with schools in areas such as: Independence / Lee's Summit / Blue Springs / Grain Valley / Fort Osage(school locations are subject to availability)

Job Overview:

School Based Support Specialists work in area schools to provide support and activities through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual's immediate and continued adjustment to school and community living by delivering mental health services alongside other services provided by practitioners and community agencies. Services are provided at the school site during school operating hours.

What you'll get to do:

  • Provide on-site intervention in area schools for clients enrolled in the program and will collaborate closely with school staff to ensure appropriate client care.
  • Participate in the process of monitoring client progress in treatment programs
  • Development of specific individual treatment/rehabilitation plans
  • Provide individual assistance to clients as a resource in accessing needed mental health services and completing activities of daily living skills
  • Assist the client to access and utilize a variety of community agencies and resources to provide ongoing social, vocational, educational, and recreational support and activities.

Education (or experience as outlined below) requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields of study:

Psychology
Social Work
Sociology
Education
Criminal Justice
Family Studies
Counseling
Recreational Therapy
Human Services
Human Development & Family Studies
Child Development
Gerontology
Behavioral Science
Rehabilitation Counseling

OR....

  • Work experiencein a related human services field may substitute for educational requirements. *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more.
